Living In The GTA

As part of the ongoing re-development of the West Don Lands, Waterfront Toronto has created a very exciting outdoor space at Eastern Ave and the Don River. The park is the largest in the downtown core (18-acres), and has been created with the many new residents to the area in mind. There are many exciting components to the park, including  several play areas, a splashpad, an off-leash dog walking area and a great lawn large enough for varied events. Other components include a wetlands and nature area, which boast numerous native species of plants and trees.

All the crafted detail and planning that has informed the development of Corktown Common has paid off. It has been accurately described as a showcase of urban sustainability. Recently Popular Science magazine has recognized the Corktown Common park with one of the 2014 “Best of What’s New” award in the Green Category for its sustainable design, innovation and positive and lasting impact on its community.
